This is NOT the END of Physical Copies

Cordova, TN; July 20, in the year of our Lord 2026 --
Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the
family friendly video games is continuing to be the voice of
diversity in the gaming media, and media at large. There are
plenty of people completely freaking out about the announcement
from Sony that they will stop publishing physical copies of
video games starting in January of 2028. There are all of these
doom and gloom people in our industry claiming this is the end
of physical copies. I disagree completely, totally and fully. I
do not believe this is the end. There are people pointing out
that Sony is also pulling all of these movies from their digital
stores. Even if you paid for them. They just steal it from you.
One of the reasons physical copies are so important.
For decades I and the rest of Family Friendly Gaming have
pointed out the benefits of physical copies. We have talked
about consumer rights and ownership. We have talked about the
control freak nature of the video game companies. There are
plenty of others that are going to continue with physical
copies. Currently we import physical copies from Japan and UK.
They get them and US only gets a digital download. Sony will
take a hit with this. Sony will lose sales. Sony will lose
money. Their competitors will jump on the opposing side and make
bank. I expect Sony will reverse this bad decision at some
point. I also know Evercade is doing well. There are plenty of
retro video games to buy and play in the physical realm.
There are options available to us. I will not buy these digital
downloads. I will start buying more physical copy games from the
competitors of Sony. If we stick together as gamers we can make
a change. Sony will see a drop in profits. Sony will lose money.
Also speak out. This article is a way I get the diverse opinion
out there. Completely offline and physical copies are the best
option. You can play your own property whenever you feel like
it. I do not even go and look at the digital stores on my
systems. I buy physical every opportunity I get. If a company
makes a game and goes digital only. I check other countries, and
then skip that game. If you want physical copies you must be
willing to say I will stick with my morals and ethics on this
one. Or they will steal it from at some point in the future.
Look at Realm Royale and Ultima Forever. Oh the irony of the
name of that last one.
