Map Map A game about Maps Releases

May
28, in the year of our Lord 2026 -- Pipapo Games will
release Map Map - A game about Maps on May 28 on Steam.
Launching alongside the Thinky Direct, Cerebral Puzzle Showcase,
and Cozy & Family Friendly Games Celebration, the game marks the
debut title from Pipapo Games, an independent studio based in
Germany.
Map Map is a cozy exploration puzzle game where players navigate
unfamiliar islands in search of a hidden treasure by observing
the environment and drawing their own maps to progress. Instead
of relying on objective markers or automated navigation systems,
players navigate through notes, landmarks, and self-made charts.
There is no built-in minimap or waypoint system. Players decide
what information matters enough to record, while landmarks,
terrain, and spatial relationships become the primary tools for
navigation. Clues and discoveries are documented directly onto a
blank chart using in-game drawing tools, including straight-line
and circle dividers for measuring and structuring maps.
"We wanted to make a game about genuine exploration. No quest
markers or maps with GPS, just you, your sense of direction and
actual navigation tools. That's why we decided to put you in the
shoes of a cartographer," said Pipapo Games.
Each island is designed around curiosity, observation, and
exploration-driven spatial puzzles. The game also features
Twitch integration, allowing viewers to suggest locations and
influence navigation decisions during live streams.
Ahead of launch, a major demo update is available now on Steam.
The update introduces expanded mapping tools, a complete visual
overhaul of the world map, improved mission guidance, and a
range of gameplay and usability fixes. The updated demo will
remain available on Steam following release.
The game currently has more than 60,000 wishlists on Steam ahead
of release. Review keys for the full version are now available
prior to launch.
