Day Job Pays for all this

Cordova, TN; March 14, in the year of our Lord 2022 -- Family Friendly Gaming, the industry leader in covering the family friendly video games is continuing to be the voice of diversity in the gaming media, and media at large. We are open, honest, and transparent. We share our successes. We share our failures. We share our irritations. We are completely human and the range of emotions in a plethora of our writings, columns, stories, videos, and more shows it. There are days I do not feel I have the energy to go on. There are days I do not feel like recording videos or doing a live stream. Some days I am so tired and sick of the grind that might get me five whole cents for an hour of work. The sad truth and reality is I have a day job to pay for Family Friendly Gaming. Yolanda has a part time job to help pay some of our bills. I have written about the greed of the video game companies before. I have written about the video game companies treating us like slave labor. They don’t care, and they don’t listen.

My heart is all in on making Family Friendly Gaming better. My heart is all in on working on Family Friendly Gaming full time. The sad reality is the money is not there. Readers and viewers don’t want to pay for anything. We have tried that. Readers and viewers rarely want to donate. We have tried that as well. I laugh when someone comes along and tells me to use Patreon. We tried it for years and no one gave anything. We have tried KOFI for over a year and not one donation. What is the point of those sites when we get nothing from them? It costs us time and money to post there and our return is a complete negative. Do I sound frustrated? I am. I have written books. We have clothing and gear with our logo on it. We get very few sales there. Those that do buy our books tell us how much they helped them, and they appreciate the low cost. Bear in mind we have a very small margin that we get from those books. In the one to two dollar range.

At this point in time I have reached out to over three hundred different companies about advertisements and sponsorships. Two have come back with sponsorship campaigns. When they have other games of interest they are keeping us in mind in the future. I have contacted companies where I have seen they are already advertising. I have contacted video game companies who have already profited from our hard work. I have contacted companies that make perfect sense to connect with us. Getting a no response would be better than crickets chirping over and over again. The only reason I keep doing Family Friendly Gaming is because God called me to it. I see why all those other gaming media outlets went bankrupt and shut down. The day job pays for this. I use my own personal money to keep things going at Family Friendly Gaming. I pray about it. I have talked to church leaders. I will most likely retire from a day job and never get Family Friendly Gaming sustainable. Then I will have the time and not the money.

So if you ever wonder why this or that does not improve with Family Friendly Gaming comprehend some really important truths. First off I don’t have the time to make these things better. Secondly I don’t have the money. The fact that we have produced and published so much content thus far is an absolute miracle considering the financial and temporal limitations we have. While others are sitting around watching basketball, baseball, football, or hockey games I am constantly nose to the grind stone trying to make this work. While others are off enjoying some vacation I am using that time to upgrade and improve things. I have no clue what it feels like to rest and relax. I don’t know what lounging around feels like. I play games for reviews, videos, and live streams. I watch movies and TV shows for reviews, columns, and articles. I read stories for information on potential videos or live streams we can do. I am constantly doing these things for you – our wonderful readers and viewers. Eventually I will wear out, wear down, or break down. Hopefully some help will come before that happens. Hopefully your assistance can stop that future tragedy from happening.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day.

God bless,
Paul Bury
