Cave Digger 2 Announced

October 27, in the year of our Lord 2020 -- Finnish VR game publisher VRKiwi announced that they have started developing a sequel to their alternative western world VR adventure game Cave Digger. The game will be called Cave Digger 2: Dig Harder and is expected to come first to Steam Early Access next year with wider platform availability coming in 2022. It is the biggest Finnish VR game project to date, the studio said.

The first Cave Digger game was launched on Steam back in spring 2018 with PSVR and Oculus Quest support the following year. Together the VR platforms have sold nearly 50,000 copies so far. Last August, the flat screen version of the original game was also released on PC and PlayStation. The sequel will be a more sophisticated title, according to VRKiwi, due to the success of the predecessor and the new investment funding they have raised to develop their publishing business.

“Cave Digger 2 is going to be better in every aspect, we are adding many big features, we have many new resources and the community has provided us great feedback,” says the producer of VRKiwi Jani Kaipainen. “It’s going to be a different experience in many ways than the first Cave Digger but we want to keep the original Cave Digger feel, which is unique. We are going to deliver you Cave Digger 2 Early access later in 2021. Are you looking forward to mining, treasures and dangers with your friends in VR? We are for sure.”

No word on a physical copy version of this game on this system(s) in the US at this time. Families are required to pay for Internet usage fees to download this game. For more information click here.
