KartRider Dash Speeds Its Way to Facebook

TOKYO – February 8, in the year of our Lord 2012 – Nexon Co., Ltd., a worldwide leader in free-to-play online games, today announced that its record-breaking “KartRider” PC game is going social with the release of “KartRider Dash” for Facebook later this year. The newest addition to the “KartRider” franchise, which has attracted more than 270 million registered players worldwide, is scheduled to enter an open beta phase on Facebook in March.

“KartRider Rush,” the iOS and Android version of the popular PC game, has taken the mobile racing genre by storm, accumulating nearly seven million downloads since its launch in spring of 2011. With “KartRider Dash,” the colorful, fast-paced game is making its way to the social gaming space. Players will be able to race their friends through challenging maps and high-speed time trials while experiencing both new and familiar characters, race tracks and game modes.

“’KartRider’ is an amazing IP and should make a great impression on Facebook gamers,” said Aron Koh, Executive Producer of Social Game Operations at Nexon America. “’KartRider Dash’ will raise the bar for top-notch Facebook games, extending Nexon’s strategy to expose our high quality games to the broadest audiences possible.”

In celebration of the entrance of “KartRider” into the social arena, Nexon and The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences will welcome attendees from the video game industry at the Second Annual D.I.C.E. Go-Karting Tournament in Las Vegas on February 8.

Nexon’s “KartRider” franchise was launched in 2004 in Korea, and has since been played by over 19 million users – more than one third of the Korean population. The highly accessible, arcade-style online racing game has subsequently been released in other territories beginning in 2006, including China, North America and Europe, and continues to be popular with consumers across the globe. “KartRider Rush” for mobile was released in March of 2011, and has since been downloaded more than 6.7 million times. “KartRider Dash” is the first game in the “KartRider” franchise to be released on a social gaming platform.
