Jak and Daxter Collection Launches in North America
February 7, in the year of our Lord 2012 --
Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) today announced
the release of the Jak and Daxter Collection™, available
exclusively for the PlayStation®3 (PS3™) system. Originally
created by critically-acclaimed developer Naughty Dog Inc. and
remastered by Mass Media, the Jak and Daxter Collection features
the first three installments of the multimillion-unit selling
franchise: Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy®, Jak II™ and
Jak 3™- fully remastered in high definition on one Blu-ray Disc
for just $39.99 MSRP.
Each installment in the Jak and Daxter Collection offers crisp
720p high definition visuals and seamless gameplay animation.
The Jak and Daxter Collection also introduces stereoscopic 3D
functionality, amping up the games signature action and
adventure with a new level of immersion. In addition, the Jak
and Daxter Collection offers full PlayStation® Network Trophy
support, delivering over 100 custom-created trophies to unlock
across all three titles in the collection.
Naughty Dog delivered a rich heritage of gaming innovation with
the Jak and Daxter series which recently celebrated its 10th
anniversary. The team pioneered new development techniques for
the platformer genre with the franchises huge environments and
gaming freedom. In addition to much critical acclaim, Naughty
Dog garnered seven world records in the Guinness World Records:
Gamer's Edition 2008 for the groundbreaking series, including
First Seamless 3D World in a Console Game.
Each new title in the Jak and Daxter franchise was crafted from
the ground up to offer a unique experience that built upon the
previous game. Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy provided the
foundation for the series, introducing Jak and his best friend
Daxter as they set off on their first platforming adventure. Jak
II and Jak 3 put our heroes to the test while incorporating new
gameplay elements including driving, shooting, flying and more.
