XSEED Games Reintroduces the Original Land of Ys As Ys I and II Chronicles Goes Gold
Confirmed North American Ship Date and Official Site Launches
Torrance, Calif., (January 24, in the year of our
Lord 2011) - XSEED Games pulls back the curtain on
the story of Ys, reintroducing fans old and new to the birth
of the legendary series and the trials of renowned hero Adol
Christin as they’re brought to a new generation in the
updated compilation Ys I & II Chronicles, exclusively for
the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system. For 30 years,
renowned developer Nihon Falcom has played a defining role
in the evolution of the modern RPG, and together with XSEED
Games they deliver the ultimate edition of Ys I & Ys II,
capturing the essence of their timelessly classic gameplay
and pairing it with a fresh translation, newly-arranged
music and re-imagined art. The third in the Ys series to be
released by XSEED Games, Ys I & II Chronicles has gone gold,
and will invite players the world over to take a nostalgic
trip through Ys history starting on February 22 as the game
launches via digital download and ships to retailers

An epic tale now over 20 years in the making, Ys I introduces players to the world of Esteria, the modern name of the ancient land of Ys. A historic kingdom protected by goddesses and rich in mystical power and wealth, Esteria was settled by hardy inhabitants who established prosperous port towns and humble fishing inlets. But all was not well for long in the land, and soon word spread of a looming darkness – fronted by the appearance of horrendous monsters (first few, then many), swarming and destroying all of Esteria in their wake. One brave soul, a young Adol Christin, heard whispers of the rumors... and hungry for adventure, he set sail, never once looking back. Told to seek out the six books of Ys to reveal the key to defeating evil, Adol ventures forth boldly, continuing his fearsome journey into Ys II, not knowing his very arrival had been written by the fates a hundred years before.
