SOUL SURFER FACTS:
- On the day of the shark attack, Bethany lost her left arm at the shoulder and more than half her body’s blood. In less than one month, she was surfing again.

- The day of the attack, Bethany’s church youth group leader, Sarah Hill (played by Carrie Underwood), pointed Bethany to a Bible verse: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

- Bethany’s parents, Tom and Cheri Hamilton, both are avid surfers themselves; they met in Kauai, Hawaii, having traveled there from childhood homes in New Jersey (Tom) and California (Cheri).

- In the days before the attack, Bethany and her mother, Cheri, had prayed that God would use to His glory any notoriety Bethany gained from surfing.
