Characters and World in The Legend of Heroes Trails in the Sky
XSEED Games is sharing details on its upcoming title, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, which will ship on March 29th in both a Limited Edition package (MSRP $39.99) and a standard boxed version, with a digital download version also available (MSRP $29.99).
Developed by legendary RPG specialists Nihon Falcom, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky marks the beginning of a new stand-alone story in the timeless The Legend of Heroes series, and is the first of the Trails in the Sky games to be released in North America under the XSEED Games partnership. In The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, players venture through the diverse landscape of the Liberl Kingdom, experiencing its unique traditions and cultures along the way.
Meet the Cast of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
The game centers around an adolescent martial-artist with a tenacious spirit named Estelle Bright, as well as her trusted companion Joshua, a mysterious boy who was brought into Estelle’s family five years prior. Estelle and Joshua are aspiring members of the Bracer Guild, an organization charged with upholding the peace and safety of the citizens within the kingdom. One branch of the Bracer Guild is located in each part of the continent, and whenever a citizen is in need of assistance, he or she may request help from that local guild. Be it policing crime, exterminating monsters or helping to solve civil disputes, bracers are sworn to do their utmost for any citizens in their charge.
Bracer trainees such as Estelle and Joshua must seek qualification in all the regions of the kingdom before they qualify as full-fledged bracers, and it is this task which serves as the initial impetus for their adventure. Along the way, these two semi-siblings will traverse the entirety of the country, seeking not only these qualifications, but their missing father as well.
As the journey unfolds, Estelle and Joshua will come across a multitude of characters who will assist them in getting out of tight spots and tricky situations. From talented and self-centered musicians such as Olivier Lenheim to hard-hitting (and in some cases hard drinking) fellow bracers like Scherazard Harvey and Zane Vathek, these characters will all unknowingly help to shape the fate of their world, truly becoming heroes in their own time.
Details Help Shape a Game
As players move through the game, they will actually help to shape the events of the world. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky was developed with an eye for meticulous detail, and for nearly every action taken in-game, consequences will be seen down the line. Did a major event just happen in the story? Check the in-game newspaper, as you’re likely to see a journalist’s report on the occurrence. Did one of the characters you encountered on your journey tell you he/she was heading for a distant town of unforgettable description? If and when you come across that location, you may want to take a minute to look around for that person, as all characters (major or minor) in The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky move with the story. And for bookworms (and completionists), there is even an 11-part mystery/suspense novel that can be collected and read. Boasting 50-plus hours of gameplay, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is a sprawling RPG adventure like nothing else on portable systems.
Fans who pre-order from participating nationwide retailers will be able to reserve a copy of the Limited Edition, which will contain a music selections CD with over 30 tracks, a 13-inch by 19.5-inch poster and a Bracer Guild replica metal badge, for the suggested retail price of $39.99. A standard boxed version and digital download version will also be available, for the suggested retail price of $29.99. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky is scheduled for release on March 29th, 2011. For more information, please visit the newly launched website at www.trailsinthesky.com.
