Devious Dungeon

A digital download key for Devious Dungeon on the Nintendo Switch came in to Family Friendly Gaming. This little video game has five worlds and sixty-eight levels. That sounds small right? That sounds like it should be app or something right? Well it was an app at one time. Like so many other apps it has been ported over to the crowed indie section of the Nintendo eShop.

The trouble spots in Devious Dungeon for families are violence, blood, and gore. We go through these levels finding keys to open the exit door. Along the way we can fight the monsters. We earn experience and gold by fighting the monsters. The more coin we earn the better gear we can purchase. The gear is probably the hardest part of Devious Dungeon for me. The game play in Devious Dungeon is pretty easy.

Devious Dungeon becomes one of those mindless violent games where we learn to get them before they get us. We then progress to get them until they can no longer get us anymore. Enemies will walk right up to you while you are hacking and slashing them. They bump into you and you take damage. They can also attack you and you will take damage. If you are not careful you can die in Devious Dungeon.

The music in Devious Dungeon is okay. The graphics are nothing to write home about. In fact they are very indie and/or retro looking. The levels can be interesting at times. That is of course the randomization of the levels. So some look interesting and others are kind of blah in Devious Dungeon. I wish the levels had been set in design and there was an endless mode.

If you are looking for a mindless hack and slash video game that is downloadable only on the Nintendo Switch (or app) then you might take an interest in Devious Dungeon. I am luke warm towards Devious Dungeon. I am not all in, and I am not all against. I am somewhere in the middle. I am not sure why the blood and gore was needed. Especially on something like a skeleton.
