The Book of Life

No one at Family Friendly Gaming reviewed The Book of Life on DVD. I decided it would make an interesting movie to review. After all The Book of Life is rated PG. How bad could it be? Oh famous last words. This movie is based on religious beliefs found in Mexico. Most of The Book of Life revolves around the day of the dead celebration. I know that sounds like an oxymoron.

The animation style in The Book of Life is strange. Blocky like Minecraft, and connected like a Lego movie. BTW it takes ninety-five minutes to watch The Book of Life. Diego Luna, Zoe Saldana, and Channing Tatum headline this movie. It is about two false gods who reign over two realms. One is a constant party, and the other is more like hell. They bet on which of two boys will wind up marrying this girl (Maria).

I kept pulling for Joaquin to win her hand in marriage. He was the hero of the story in my universe. He kept the town safe, and was a skilled warrior. Instead Maria winds up choosing Manolo because he is a bull fighter who refuses to kill the bulls. Can you guess Maria is an animal lover? Oh yes The Book of Life teaches us animals have more rights than people. More Holly Weird radical far extreme leftists preaching.

The Book of Life also teaches us that Mexico is the center of the universe, the dead come back to us one day a year, betting is okay, crude humor is okay, betting is okay, ghosts are good, man is horrible, suicide is okay, and animals are better than us. The Book of Life could be described as being part of the war on men, and war on the Holy Bible. The only good lesson I got from The Book of Life is to be selfless. That was at the very end.

The bonus content in The Book of Life is The Adventures of Chuy, Music Machine, No Matter Where You Are Music Video, Audio Commentary, trailer, and five galleries. The Book of Life is the most religious PG movie I have ever seen. The crude humor, and coming back to life after committing suicide will definitely bother many families. I see why The Book of Life is selling for such a low price.
