Pan

I saw Pan on DVD for five dollars brand new at a local retailer. I had heard from a lot of people that this movie was lame. I figured for five dollars it can not be horrible. Pan has its problems. Pan has its issues. Still I actually found Pan to be better than I heard. Pan is not horrible. It is a decent little fantasy movie that most families can enjoy. Bear in mind Pan has problems.

Hugh Jackman plays Blackbeard, Garrett Hedlund plays Hook, Rooney Mara plays Tiger Lily, and Levi Miller plays Peter Pan in this movie. Pan shows nuns as evil, fat, corrupt, mean, and selfish. There is also action adventure violence, blood, lack of attire, peril, explosions, magic, and more. There are some exciting scenes in Pan. Especially with the flying ships.

Pan has a very interesting scene in which all of these miners and pirates are singing a Nirvana song. Now I don't mind them singing a Nirvana song. The one problem is this movie is set during World War II. Unless the movie creators are trying to say Nirvana got the song from pirates from Neverland. It felt a little odd. The song itself fit the scene and made it more entertaining.

One of the things that was most interesting for me is the history of Peter Pan. I do not know if Pan follows it faithfully, or makes up something never previous discussed. I am sure that Pan makes it very interesting indeed. We understand why Peter was left an orphan as a baby. We learn about his past. I never knew that Peter Pan was a prince. It certainly changes his relationship with Tinker Bell.

The only bonus the DVD of Pan contained is: "The Boy Who Would be Pan: How filmmakers found the perfect Peter." Pan teaches how real prophecy is. Pan also teaches us that destiny is a real thing. Pan also taught me to stand up against evil. There are plenty of evil people doing bad things. We need to stand up against them, and not let them destroy whatever it is they are trying to destroy. Whether that be history, statues, monuments, or more.
