Just Dance 2016

Family Friendly Gaming was provided a physical copy of Just Dance 2016 on the Xbox One. I am so thankful we were provided a copy of this dancing music game. I also believe the Xbox One with the Kinect sensor is the best way to play this exercise related video game. The big thing this year is Just Dance Unlimited. A subscription service that provides dancers over one hundred and fifty songs. It costs $6.99 a month, or $14.99 for three months, or $39.99 for a full year.

I like how Just Dance 2016 puts dots down in the place of profane words in songs. There are songs in Just Dance 2016 with offensive lyrics. In fact at least one song contains lyrics that are highly divisive and offensive to a great many Americans (probably to people all over the world). There are plenty of songs out there. Why can't Just Dance as a franchise steer clear of the songs with offensive lyrics, and messages? Do they agree with those messages? I did not see one song that presented the opposing viewpoint. Not very fair or diverse.

The other main issue families are going to have with Just Dance 2016 are the sexually suggestive moves. I really wish there was a family friendly option in terms of dance moves. I don't want my kids moving like that in public. I know plenty of other parents that feel the same way. Just Dance 2016 separates song by all, solo, duet, three dancers, four dancers, and karaoke. The karaoke (called Showtime Mode in the game) is a nice inclusion in Just Dance 2016.

The presentation has been beefed up again this year. It is very noticeable how different the visual effects are in Just Dance 2016. That also applies to different songs. There are also some new dance moves, and some variations on dance moves from previous Just Dance video games. I found it interesting there are some Disney songs in Just Dance 2016 that were not in Just Dance Disney Party 2.

The song line up this year does not seem as strong to me as past years. In fact there are only a couple of songs out of the forty plus that actually appeal to us here at Family Friendly Gaming. Sure we can still get exercise, and Just Dance 2016 seems harder than previous years as well. It will take some work to five star all of the songs in Just Dance 2016. You may need someone singing near the microphone to help increase the score.

There are some songs in Just Dance 2016 in languages other than English. I have no clue what they are saying. Hopefully it is nothing as offensive as Lady Gaga. If you have a smart phone you can use that as a controller to determine how well you perform the dance moves. The Dance Quest and Sweat and Playlist modes are neat inclusions in Just Dance 2016. JDTV makes a return in Just Dance 2016.
