NHL 15

There are a variety of voices out there in the video game media. A variety of things are said about video games. It is obvious to me that EA Sports listened to the voices about NHL 14. The constantly fighting hockey game was not appreciated by families. NHL 15 moves away from that.

It is much more difficult to fight in NHL 15. I love how NHL 15 lets me play as clean as I want to. I can ignore players that want to initiate fights against my players. This enhances and improves the franchise in a meaningful way that families can enjoy.

NHL 15 looks better on the Playstation 4, and Xbox One. It really shows in the stands. The NBC Broadcasters add a new flavor to this sports game as well. In many ways NHL 15 feels like a real hockey game. I am very pleased to see these improvements.

NHL 15 does feel a lot lighter in terms of modes though. I guess the Madden series has spoiled me over the decades. NHL 15 is online heavy like a lot of modern day titles. There are some things that can be done offline. Due to bandwidth limitations/cost I do not play online at all.

The puck physics looks and feels great. So does the player physics. I could body check into the boards easily in NHL 15. The 9,000 individual fans in the crowd would get up on their feet when I would score goals. It added to the excitement and realism of this home console sports game.

There is room for improvement as the EA Sports NHL franchise is making its way onto the next gen home console platforms. NHL 15 is a nice step up to the next gen. I expect EA Canada will build upon this work in NHL 16 next year. Various difficulty settings means NHL 15 is approachable by all skill sets.
