NES Remix

Family Friendly Gaming Nation was surprised to hear about NES Remix during a Nintendo Direct video. It caught us off guard as we were covering that event. It was a pleasant surprise because the concept of NES Remix has all kinds of potential. Imagine playing retro levels in new and different ways.

NES Remix contains Remix, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, Mario Bros, Excite Bike, Balloon Right, and Super Mario Bros. The Remix section contains levels of retro games done differently. The rest of the sections/games are quick action segments.

What do I mean by quick action segments? It can be something as simple as land flat on a jump. But you do it on three different ramps. Or collect this one item on this screen. Maybe jump over ten barrels. Very simple actions that do not take very long.

Who says Nintendo does not learn new tricks? NES Remix contains in-app purchases. Or you could call it DLC. Additional content that must be purchased to be played within NES Remix. Families can easily go to the Nintendo eShop and purchase the additional content. After they have already paid for the game.

There are one hundred stamps in NES Remix that can be unlocked. They can be used in the Nintendo message boards on your messages. These stamps all relate to the retro games found within NES Remix. It would be neat to get these stamps into regular emails on the computer.

The gameplay and graphics in NES Remix are ported over from these retro games. Which means certain nuances of these retro games are accurately represented in NES Remix. Like what? Remember climbing ladders in Donkey Kong? Sometimes the animation does not complete to standing up at the top. That is faithfully represented in this downloadable home console game.
