MLB 14 The Show

Some people are not happy with hand held versions of games. I have always enjoyed them, and love finding hand held versions of games that are better than the home console versions. Well at least in my opinion. Not every single person on the planet will agree with everything I have to say.

I believe MLB 14 The Show is the best hand held version of video game baseball I have ever played. It is not perfect. In fact I have one complaint about this baseball video game. I am not a fan of how touchy the controls are in placing where a pitch goes.

The announcers in MLB 14 The Show are fabulous. I love the comments. Things like: "that is fifteen strike outs today," or "he is absolutely unhitable today," or "they are down to their last strike." It shows MLB 14 The Show on the PS Vita knows what is going on in the game. I am less thrilled about the music. There are also random shouts heard from the crowd. Which adds to the realism.

I love hitting in MLB 14 The Show on the PS Vita. The ball looks good on those line drives into the gap in the outfield. I love watching it sail over the wall to be a home run. I love watching the fielders scoop up the ball and throw out the runner at first base. I enjoy how the double plays look.

The graphics in MLB 14 The Show are way better than I was expecting. Frank mentioned blurred graphics in the Playstation 3 version. I found none of that in the Playstation Vita version. And I was looking for it too. This is one of the reasons I believe the PS Vita version of MLB 14 The Show is better than the PS3 version.

Families can port their Playstation 3 saves over to the PS Vita to take their games on the go. I liked simulating parts of games to get through them faster. Putting the PS Vita in sleep to finish a game later. Creating my own player and working my way up the ranks can span many months.

Families know the PS Vita is starving for family friendly video games. So it is nice to see MLB 14 The Show come out. Sony could have kept this franchise on the home console only. I am very thankful they are continuing to develop and improve the hand held version of the MLB The Show franchise.

What I want to see for next year is the pitch placement controls need to be less touchy. That is the main thing that held MLB 14 The Show back from receiving the Family Friendly Gaming seal of approval. The other thing is the inability to turn off that annoying music on the menu screens.
