Lemmings Touch

When I first heard of Lemmings Touch I said: "no way this is going to work. Lemmings is too complex for touch screen controls." Guess who has egg on their face? Yes I do. I was wrong. I am man enough to admit the touch controls work way better in this franchise than I thought possible.

Lemmings Touch shines on the PS Vita. This is an outstanding looking hand held video game. Lemmings Touch puts everyone on the Nintendo 3DS to shame visually. The bright, vibrant colors in Lemmings Touch scream amazing. I am in awe of how good this game looks. That is the good news, what is the bad news? There is some comic mischief, and Lemmings can die a plethora of horrible ways. Like blow themselves up when you get stuck in a level.

If you are a newcomer to the Lemmings franchise, let me bring you up to speed. Lemmings Touch is a puzzle game. This is one intense cerebral hand held video game. Oh it starts easy enough. Before long you find yourself frustrated, agitated, and irritated for making a mistake after a lengthy level. We have a variety of these Lemmings who happily follow whomever is in front of them. The lead Lemming moves forward from where he starts until he hits an obstacle or the end spot. We have a variety of things we can do with the Lemmings. These generally come in tools.

Lemmings Touch uses many of the tried and true Lemmings tools. They can build staircases, dig in multiple ways, climb, use an umbrella to float down safely, and more. There is a tutorial in Lemmings Touch that is easy to get through. It also helps teach families the controls.

I ran into a control issue here or there in Lemmings Touch. When I tried to slide the little starter object, sometimes I would scroll across the level instead. I also would tap a Lemming, and then the tool. Yet nothing happened. Somehow my tap on the tool did not register. These were here and there in Lemmings Touch. They were noticeable enough to confuse me on more than one occasion.

Lemmings Touch reminds me an app in some regards. We can earn three gold stars in a level depending on how we do. Those stars are used to unlock additional areas, and levels. There are one hundred levels in Lemmings Touch. Families will get their moneys worth out of Lemmings Touch.

Lemmings Touch is a download only video game. I could find no record of a physical copy being sold at retailers. I know how many of our readers feel about that issue. Hell is one of the level locations in Lemmings Touch. Those levels are generally the nastiest ones too.
