Turbo Super Stunt Squad

I had Turbo Super Stunt Squad on the Wii U (also on PS3 and Xbox 360) completely wrong. I thought this was going to be a racing game based off the movie. A super charged slug racing game. Boy was I wrong. This is a tricks game, sort of like Tony Hawk. In fact Turbo Super Stunt Squad is best described as a family friendly Tony Hawk game.

Why do I say that? There are bowls, tricks, grinds and more in Turbo Super Stunt Squad. We have to collect certain objects, letters, and more to complete missions in Turbo Super Stunt Squad. The biggest problem is there is not enough time to perform these missions.

It takes a couple of times playing the first level to get the feel for how Turbo Super Stunt Squad controls. There will be frustration at first. Especially when you get yourself into a bowl and can not find the way out. That happened to me - more than once. Or trying to get that fifth item out of five with five seconds left. Again that happened to me.

The longer I played Turbo Super Stunt Squad the more comfortable I became. The more I found, the easier it was to access additional areas. Turbo Super Stunt Squad is not as friendly to families in terms of controls as say the Tony Hawk franchise. This is a missed opportunity in my opinion.

The Wii U Gamepad makes a nice controller in Turbo Super Stunt Squad. Four family members can play Turbo Super Stunt Squad at the same time in this game. The level of shell customization in Turbo Super Stunt Squad is neat. As is being able to create your own challenges.

Turbo Super Stunt Squad is really difficult at the beginning. My biggest concern with this home console game is families will get frustrated too easily. The music changing during levels was a nice touch. I just wish there had been more time in the levels to work on those missions. Make one mistake on some of them, and you have to try it all over again.
