ShootMania Storm
SCORE: 78
When I first heard about ShootMania Storm
I was not impressed. I am not one of those people who is all into
shooting other players. In fact the concept is not very appealing to me.
Unlike the Trackmania games that I like, and am looking forward to.
Something strange happened when I played ShootMania Storm - I enjoyed
myself.
This is a first person shooter that grades players on multiple different
things. The more flags you capture the higher your score. The longer you
stay alive the higher your score. And the more other players you shoot
the higher your score. ShootMania Storm lets you specialize in what you
are good at. And that is just one of the modes.
There are multiple different modes in ShootMania Storm. So you can play
in teams, capture the flag, royale, and more. The fast paced battles is
one of the stand out features of ShootMania Storm. A tornado comes
from the outside in most modes and pushes players to the middle. That
tornado is also an instant elimination if you decide to just stay put.
The maps in ShootMania Storm leave few places to hide. Things like water
take away your stamina and do not allow you to shoot. Jump pads send you
flying up into the air, and more. If you do not like the maps that are
currently out there you can create your own. Which is another cool
feature in ShootMania Storm.
I did notice after playing ShootMania Storm my aggression levels were
increased. I liked seeing how I ranked in my region, country, and state.
The different leader boards are also a fun feature in ShootMania Storm.
I worked diligently to improve my standing in each server, and on each
map.
ShootMania Storm is all about competitive gaming. There is no blood or
gore in this Personal Computer FPS. Once a player is tagged they will
vaporize quickly. Depending on the game, and the rules determines when
you respawn. I found the waiting time is very short in ShootMania Storm.
Joust is the one exception.
Games change depending on the players in ShootMania Storm. Which means
there can be language issues, and sometimes advanced players on the
beginner servers. It also took me a few tries on the menu screen to
figure out how to find a game to play. Since Local Play was not set up
with any maps. Once I got in I found the community kind enough to
explain aspects of the game through the spectator mode.
