Run Sheldon

The running genre is crowded, especially on the iOS platform. So what is a company to do if they have a really good idea for a runner? First and foremost differentiate themselves. Run Sheldon does that in a few ways. First off this app is linked to the tortoise and the hare parable.

The main character in Run Sheldon is the tortoise. He is trying to save his trophy from the vindictive hares. The hares are trying to steal it from him. So he is running away. Along the way he can jump on the tortoises to make them go away. Or he can avoid them all together.

Run Sheldon reminds me of Jetpack Joyride. Only Run Sheldon is safer for families. In each level there are multiple goals that players can attain. Once enough of them (five I think) are acquired then our character goes up a level and we earn some form of a bonus.

Coins are collected in Run Sheldon, and they have dual purposes. First and foremost they can be used to continue your run if you run into a hazard - like a cute little bunny rabbit. Secondly they can be used to purchase upgrades and power ups. Please note every time you use a continue in a run, the next continue will cost more.

Run Sheldon keeps track of your coins, and longest run. When you reach your longest run a sign will appear letting you know that you are about to make a new record. I really appreciate this. It made me feel like I had made an accomplishment. Yes I know it is only inside a video game.

My final conclusion is Run Sheldon is a fun little runner that sets itself apart from the rest of the field. The tortoise and hare connection are one of those things. I also like the pace and speed of Run Sheldon. It is a little slower than Jetpack Joyride which is more my style.
