Top Six Characters that Need to Come Out of Retirement

Pato Banton sang a song with UB40 -- Baby Come Back. There are plenty of video game characters who have been retired for one reason or another. Some of them we would like to see again. If absence makes the heart fonder, then I am as fond of these characters as I can be. So please join me as we explore the Top Six Characters that Need to Come Out of Retirement. Maybe just maybe someone out there reading can help bring these characters back.

Big Three Embrace Indie Games

The video game industry goes in trends. We have seen a variety of trends over the decades. Numerous companies tried to create an iconic character in 2D side scrolling adventures. The industry went crazy making 2D fighting games. There was a mad rush to create 3D fighting games. Many companies rushed to put out FPS games. Want to know what the latest trend in the video game industry is? Indie Games. Sony is talking about it, Nintendo is talking about, Microsoft is talking about it, and its all over Steam.

Gaming that is Inclusive

Every so often I get an email, or meet someone at a trade show that asks why do we ignore the 'M' rated games. There are a plethora of reasons to do so, one of the most prominent is I support gaming that is inclusive, not exclusive. By its very nature a game that is seventeen and older only is excluding a large percentage of the family. They are exclusive games that contain content children should not be exposed to. Children and younger teens are being told by the secular gaming media the exclusive games are cool. That is what you aspire towards. I disagree with that molding of the gaming population.

Cocoto Alien Brick Breaker

Cocoto Alien Brick Breaker is a mixture between Space Invaders and Breakout. Two well known classics that you probably thought could never ever be mixed together. Big Ben Interactive and Neko Entertainment did a wonderful job of mixing the two. What amazes me the most is how well it works.

We have this odd looking creature in Cocoto Alien Brick Breaker. He has a shield that he uses to deflect the attacks of aliens. These aliens are shooting down at the planet trying to destroy it. We must return their attacks back to them, which winds up blowing them up. This is the mild fantasy violence the ESRB referenced.

The 3D effects in Cocoto Alien Brick Breaker are just right. They add some depth without being overbearing. It enhances this game in a meaningful way. The main game play graphics can get a bit small, but they rotate the planets around nicely. I enjoyed removing the aliens as quickly as possible.

There are a variety of power ups in Cocoto Alien Brick Breaker. Some allow us to grab and hold shots until we hit the 'A' button to release them. Others show us where the orbs will bounce toward. Still others will enlarge the size of the shield to massive proportions.

I really got into the music in Cocoto Alien Brick Breaker. It helped the atmosphere of saving these planets. There are more than enough levels on the variety of planets to warrant the price of admission. The only concern that parents may have is the main character looks like a little demon or devil.

Cocoto Alien Brick Breaker includes a certain child like atmosphere to it. It is fun to bounce the attacks back at the aggressor. The controls in Cocoto Alien Brick Breaker work flawlessly. Things can get crazy in this Nintendo 3DS game as multiple enemies can attack from a variety of different locations. The planets can take a few hits here and there, which is nice.
