Buddy & Me

Most people think I have the most perfect job on the planet. I get to play video games, write about video games, talk about video games, and guide others as they play video games. When kids and teenagers find out what I do they want me to adopt them. They want to live the dream.

Be careful what you wish for, because no matter how wonderful something looks, there is also a downside. There is always a sacrifice. There is always something you did not anticipate, expect, or plan for. The thing about playing games all the time is I have to play the crummy ones. I have to work with people who waste all kinds of my time. I have to be as kind as possible to someone who really should be paying me a lot of money for what they put me through.

Where am I going with all of this? There are people, companies, and games that keep me going. Buddy & Me on the iPhone/iPod Touch is one of those games. It is oozing high quality. Sunbreak Games could have taken the easy way out. They could have thrown out yet another runner. But they didn't. They made sure it was exceptional.

Exceptional is a good word for Buddy & Me. From the characters to the animation, and finally back to the music. This game has talent to spare. And it puts so many other apps out there to shame. This is the kind of a game I would expect to see on the Playstation Vita. It looks and sounds that good. I am shocked my iPhone can actually play this app.

Beyond all of this praise is some real character. The concept behind Buddy & Me is a little boy goes to sleep. He dreams for one minute and fifty-eight seconds. He dreams of running through the forest, jumping on these platforms, and riding his giant furry friend. Sorry I have no clue what that friendly looking monster is supposed to be. When your time is up the little boy wakes up. There is such a happy innocence to Buddy & Me.
