Transformers Prime The Game

Transformers Prime is a favorite among the older crowd here at Family Friendly Gaming. There are younger members who also like it, but they may not appreciate it as much since they do not know the history of the Transformers series. I jumped at the opportunity to drop everything and play Transformers Prime The Game on the Nintendo DS.

I know what many of you may be thinking - the Nintendo DS? They still make games for the Nintendo DS? Yes they do, and this is a rather solid one if I say so myself. Oh wait I just did say so. That must be the bottom line huh?!? All joking aside, Transformers Prime The Game feels like an episode of the show.

The story is told through some images, some videos, and audio. We play a variety of the characters from the show, and we have different kinds of levels. Some levels in Transformers Prime The Game even mix it up. We may be in vehicle mode for part of it, and then robot mode in the other part.

We have to punch, kick, slam, and shoot our opponents. I saw one odd thing in Transformers Prime The Game. We have an upgrade which is a super powerful attack. This attack is the only thing that hurts the boss characters. So we shoot them until it charges, and then go in and use that attack a few times. It made boss battles a little uncomfortable for me.

Characters can project shields to protect themselves and we can use an attack to break it. The whole meteor explosion, and character interactions give Transformers Prime The Game a level of realism that is present in the television show. Activision did a good job, and impressed me with how much they could put on this little cartridge.
