When I was
younger I had a fascination with model trains. A friends father had one,
and spent hours adjusting things, improving things, and running his
trains. At the Puyallup Fair I was able to see huge train sets put on my
hardcore hobbyists. As an adult I marveled at them in Federal Way at the
mall around Christmas time.
I never got into train sets mainly because of the cost. They can be
expensive in both finances and time. Which is where video games come
into play. For a fraction of the cost families can enjoy trains on the
Personal Computer. Train Simulator 2013 is one of these games, and in my
opinion one of the best.
Kids love trains, especially boys. Both of my boys got a real kick out
of Train Simulator 2013. Especially our youngest son. He loves running
the trains between cities, seeing the various trains and learning about
the rail road. Which came as the biggest surprise to me. Train Simulator
2013 teaches us about the lines in a fascinating way.
What is that fascinating way? Running a train from one city to another
can take some time. So along the way our guide will give us history
lessons. This helps break up the monotony of watching the world go by.
Unless you are like me switching the various view points around to get a
real feel for this game.
The first thing Train Simulator 2013 taught me is starting a train is
not the easiest thing in the world. In fact I felt pretty dumb as I
re-read the directions over and over again. Once I learned that I was
off to the races. After a few history lessons I decided to start to
press buttons. Let me give you one piece of advice - do not hit the
starter while the train is moving. It shuts it down and you will coast
to a stop. Or back slowly as I ended up doing.
I hope you got a little laugh out of some of the things I did in Train
Simulator 2013. I am pleased that this PC game did not chastise me for
experimenting. I learned from my mistakes and even found the horn. Which
I ended up using after I was supposed to, but hey no one is perfect.
The replay value in Train Simulator 2013 is huge. There are so many
different things that can be done, including customizations, places to
see, train tracks, and more. Train Simulator 2013 is a fun game for kids
or adults. I am very thankful that Family Friendly Gaming was provided a
download code to play and review Train Simulator 2013.
