Star Trek Nemesis

I found Star Trek Nemesis in the clearance rack for five dollars. Since I have enjoyed some Star Trek movies in the past, I thought I would go against that little voice in my head and buy it. Romulans, clones, and a new super weapon all makes their appearance in Star Trek Nemesis. To be honest there are so many better villains that could have been used. Romulus looks very weak in this film.

Visually Star Trek Nemesis is pretty dark. There are some violent scenes where space ships or futuristic guns are used. A scene near the beginning of the movie has something that kills very quickly in a very disgusting manner. Think of a flesh eating virus that operates in a few seconds, and you will be in the ballpark. There is also a sexual scene in Star Trek Nemesis that involves a husband and wife. In sci-fi fashion there is someone that invades her mind during the scene. So it becomes troubling very quickly.

Expect well known Star Trek TNG music and sounds. Phasers, photon torpedoes and more get exhausted in space battles. I noticed some bad language here and there in Star Trek Nemesis. Thankfully it is generally cleaner than most PG-13 movies, but I do not believe this movie is for children in any way shape or form.

Trekkies will appreciate all of the bonus features in Star Trek Nemesis. There are commentaries, documentaries, deleted scenes, photo galleries, and previews. The previews are my favorite because they are trying to get us to buy more Star Trek DVDs. I feel like my money was wasted on this movie.

I did not enjoy the story in Star Trek Nemesis. There are too many things left open, and too many things that made no sense. A clone who fails, and is killed is this major nemesis? All factions of the Romulans want peace, but their motives are to destroy the Federation. There are all these ships waiting to fight the monster ship, but they never are used. Data sacrifices his life, and B4 is left to be the android. What is the point of some major super weapon if it takes seven minutes to charge, and can be destroyed so easily?

The duplicity of so many characters made Star Trek Nemesis a very confusing movie. There is a lot of talking, which makes the action portions seemed rushed. I liked the marriage this movie contains. Redemption was offered, but refused. However the reasons for it made no sense to me.
