 Squids Wild West

What would happen if you mixed the flinger concept with a role playing game? The result would be Squids Wild West. Actually Squids since it was the first game in the franchise. But Squids Wild West  is the first time I have played this franchise. It revolves around these squid characters who act like humans. There is a darkness that came into their land and they are fighting it off.

Squids Wild West  has a wild, wild west feel to it. The characters wear attire that look like attire from that time period. Some of the characters names are close to Western themes, people, and more. Indians are in Squids Wild West. They talk like them, and even talk about worshiping gods. I expected to hear a lot about the Great Spirit from them.

We have a team of squids in Squids Wild West. Each character takes their turn, and are launched toward the enemy characters. This is done by touching the character, and pulling back the opposite direction we want them to go. They only go so far in a turn. The goal is to have our characters ram the enemy characters. Knock them off edges, or take away all of their hit points.

Certain characters in Squids Wild West have special skills. Clint can shoot once a turn for example, when he is in range. Sammo does this summo wrestler kind of slam. By the way, what is with Sammo's attire? He is wearing this small underwear that is mildly disturbing. Speaking of disturbing - the characters in Squids Wild West try to be funny. It does not always work, and sometimes is a bit off color.

The music in Squids Wild West is top notch. The same thing can be said for the special effects. Especially if you can get extras in your attack. There are a wide array of them. I love doing things like the double bounce. Flinging these squid into these black creatures is somehow satisfying. Plus it is different than most apps I play.

Squids Wild West has a ton to unlock, and I feel it is worth the price of admission. I failed some missions, but was allowed to keep all the pearls I collected. This is important because I could buy my team better gear and/or level them up. It is wise to keep everyone close in levels since you may have to go through a mission with someone you do not normally use.

Squids Wild West is unique in so many ways. It is a light hearted role playing game that requires precision flinging. I also found the characters in Squids Wild West to be unique. There are so many games that follow lame cliches. Squids Wild West tries something different, and for that The Game Bakers should be applauded.
