Silvester Adventure
SCORE: 81
I was very excited at the opportunity of
playing Silvester Adventure on the iPhone/iPod Touch. This puzzle game
felt more like an adventure game at first. Only at first though. Players
are required to get through levels with both themselves and their
shadows. I was thinking about games like Lost in the Shadow. Silvester
Adventure is very different from that. In Silvester Adventure we play
with both a real character and a shadow.
The graphics in Silvester Adventure are really cool. There are three
shadow skills to obtain. Getting to move the light source around to
manipulate the shadow is cool. And required to complete many of the
levels. The environments and the backgrounds look decent. I enjoyed the
diversity inside Silvester Adventure for the iPhone/iPod Touch.
The music in Silvester Adventure is fantastic. It is amazing how good
the music is in this hand held title. I enjoy listening to it, and going
on this major intensive quest. That is until I reached the second level.
I got stuck. I went to others here at Family Friendly Gaming and no one
could figure it out. We went to the gaming wizard (our editor in chief)
with over three decades of gaming experience. He comes up with ways of
solving levels that game designers never envisions in their games. He
could not get past the second level.
Our main man went to the source and they gave us a hint that helped one
person finally figure out how to squeeze through that level. The lesson
in all of this is expect Silvester Adventure to frustrate you. Certain
important rules of the game are not spelled out. Since there are only
thirty-one levels this may have been by design. Challenging levels are
one thing, but some of the solutions in Silvester Adventure are mind
numbingly difficult to figure out.
Do not expect to find multiple ways through the levels in Silvester
Adventure either. One solution for the problems. Get it wrong and you
are stuck trying to figure out what it might be. I felt like I was
guessing a sixty-four bit password. For me this drained away the fun and
excitement. Which is sad because there are so many wonderful innovations
in Silvester Adventure.
The other thing that I am not fond of with Silvester Adventure is the
price. It is one penny shy of two dollars. I can list many one dollar
games that have three times as many levels. That is going to hurt
Silvester Adventure in the long run - in my opinion. I think one thing
that Silvester Adventure could do to make it more accessible and fun is
to include a hint feature.
