Ram Racing

When I think about fast vehicles, the Dodge Ram Trucks are not at the top of the heap. They are probably somewhere near the bottom. So when I was asked to review Ram Racing on the Wii, I was skeptical. Sure these trucks can take a beating, but racing on tracks - I was not convinced. So with some reservations I put the Ram Racing disc into my Wii.

I knew that Ram Racing is a bargain priced title. So I was looking for glaring issues. Surprisingly I found none. Ram Racing is a solid racing title that is fun to play. Sure there are some quirks here and there. But deep down this is a well built bargain priced racing title. And yes the trucks in Ram Racing can take a beating.

The seven trucks in Ram Racing look really good. There are various details to the seven racing environments that stick out as well. There are certain graphics that are re-used, but all in the all the environments look pretty good. Real writing on the signs, billboards, gloss on the trucks, and more. Players can have some bumper car style action in Ram Racing. This can help the player get ahead, or hurt them. I could never see my driver so that was a bit odd.

The music has a heavy metal feel to it, that fits Ram Racing perfectly. The engine revving sounds, and the hitting the edge sounds get old. I heard the hitting the edge sounds a lot, which directly relates to my driving abilities. As I progressed through Ram Racing I had to race more races, and that is when the sounds started to get on my nerves.

The controls in Ram Racing are tight. I was able to make turns, and get myself to the finish line in a high position in most races. It is possible to get turned completely around, and have to work yourself in the right direction. Most of the race tracks are narrow, so this can be a challenge. Making that mistake can ruin your race. I was able to recover if this happened early enough. And by recover I mean come back and win the race. So do not give up just because the computer truck spun you out.

Ram Racing is way better than I was expecting it to be. So for twenty dollars or less (I saw it on Amazon for fifteen at the time this review was written) your family can have a solid truck racing title with tons to unlock. Remember to race smart and pick your passing spots. Patience is rewarded in Ram Racing on the Wii.
