Prince of Persia the Sands of Time

Movies based on video games have had mixed results. There are some that vehemently hate video game based movies, and others who have enjoyed them. The WMG found Prince of Persia The Sands of Time a strange franchise to base a movie off of. This movie is action packed with all kinds of violence. Obviously the Persian Empire was a very bloody one if this movie is to be believed. What the WMG found so strange is how many important characters are killed off. Without spoiling too much there is a time travel aspect to Prince of Persia The Sands of Time. There is this magical dagger, and sand. Press the hilt of the dagger and the wielder can go back in time for one minute. This may seem like a short time, but there are various plot twists that enhance that.

Prince of Persia The Sands of Time includes a copious amount of violence. There is also some mild enticement to lust. There is blood and gore in Prince of Persia The Sands of Time as well. In fact if this were a video game it would most likely earn the ‘M’ for Mature rating. Hassassins are creepy characters that can easily lead to nightmares.

Prince of Persia The Sands of Time contains some language issues, and some definite attitudes. The princess is very mean, hateful, rude and nasty to the prince. This is odd since he does everything to protect her throughout the movie. She eventually does soften towards him, and then everything changes. But there is no need to touch on those major plot spoilers. There is also talk of gods who gave mankind the sands of time.

Because of how Prince of Persia The Sands of Time ends there is little reason to rewatch it. There are some special features related to the movie, but the WMG was not into the behind the scenes. The level of violence is also a deterrent to watching Prince of Persia The Sands of Time again.

Movies that allow time lines to be adjusted can be interesting the first time. Yet once you know what happens later it makes the story feel meaningless. Parts of the story in Prince of Persia The Sands of Time jumped around in strange ways, and made little sense to this reviewer. Prince of Persia The Sands of Time was so impressive that others watching with the WMG fell asleep.

The false gods, mystical time traveling dagger, and violence are the main issues families will have. Prince of Persia The Sands of Time does contain a hero who goes to extraordinary lengths to save the ones he loves. It is sad to see how many times he fails along the way. Is there a happy ending in Prince of Persia The Sands of Time? Yes.
