Play and Learn Spanish
SCORE: 80
Our editor in chief is the best in the entire video game industry. He does not stress or worry. He asked me if I could review Play & Learn Spanish over a month ago. I cheerfully accepted, and then sort of forgot it. He asked me about it recently, and I was red in the face. I made a mistake, and he was very gracious to me about it. No anger, no yelling, no guilt trip. He just asked if I would still have time for it.
Play & Learn Spanish is an app on the iPhone/iPod Touch where you can start on the path of learning Spanish. I do not think any of us will be fluent after playing this app. I do however think it can be a great refresher or starter for this interested in learning this language. Play & Learn Spanish can also be used by Spanish speaking people to pick up some English. Both are in this game.
The art work is kind of small in Play & Learn Spanish. Like playing the Sims on the Nintendo DS. The screens scroll around which can be a problem when taking a test. Since the game thinks you are selecting one answer, and really you are trying to move the screen to the right one. Is that your final answer kind of choice would have been helpful.
The visual aspect of Play & Learn Spanish will really help people connect the dots. After all we are visual learners, and video games teach all kinds of lessons. The audio department in Play & Learn Spanish is decent. Play & Learn Spanish tells us the English pronunciation, and then the Spanish. This is another strengthening tool to connect the dots. Play & Learn Spanish is all about learning.
I was provided a free download code for Play & Learn Spanish. Currently this app sells for $2.99. This is a little steep in my opinion for the amount of content contained. Play & Learn Spanish will test your knowledge and help you learn some basic things. The game part of Play & Learn Spanish is all educational.
I had fun playing Play & Learn Spanish at first. Then it started to become a chore because I needed to concentrate and remember what I had learned. I was amazed at how little I retained. So I tried harder the next time, and found improvement.
Learning
different languages can be a controversial topic for some. I have
generally seen it as a good thing in my life. There are those that
disagree with me though. They look at the Tower and Babel and see the
lesson there. God separated us for a reason, and when we try and bring
everyone together we are being disobedient. You can make your own
decision on that debate. I felt it was important to bring it up.
