Hey Arnold Season 2 Part 2
SCORE: 72
I agreed to watch and review Hey Arnold
Season 2 Part 2 for our glorious editor in chief. He brings so many
wonderful opportunities my way I can not complain. I knew nothing about
Hey Arnold. I found out it was a Nickelodeon television show, so I
initially cringed. I am not trying to knock that station, they just have
a history of running some really odd television shows. Especially in the
cartoon department.
Hey Arnold Season 2 Part 2 was a pleasant surprise. This cartoon is
almost normal. These kids go to school, and have real world issues. They
have to deal with friends breaking up because of fights, love, religion,
and other issues. The Bar Mitzvah was one of the most interesting
episodes to me. I enjoyed hearing about prayer, and being righteous. Hey
Arnold Season 2 Part 2 did a good job of representing the Jewish faith.
One of the interesting issues Hey Arnold Season 2 Part 2 deals with is
grudges. Certain people hold grudges against others for a very long
time. It was neat to hear them admit they were being stubborn.
Friendship is a common theme in Hey Arnold Season 2 Part 2. Certain
characters go to great lengths to compromise and show they care.
Hero worship is another concept in Hey Arnold Season 2 Part 2. The lame
excuses are repeated by characters until one realizes its not good
enough. Someone has to step up to the plate and do the right thing. They
are on that stage so they need to be one to do it. This was a classic
moment of maturity.
Hey Arnold Season 2 Part 2 contains one episode devoted to a ghost. The
ghost is shown as real at the end of the episode. This may scare
children as it scared the character who saw the ghost. A teachers strike
is also dealt with in Hey Arnold Season 2 Part 2. The episode was a bit
light on the complexity of the issue, but did end with a compromise. My
thought on the budget issues is there is only so much money. Government
can not spend what it does not already have.
One aspect of Hey Arnold Season 2 Part 2 that is really interesting to
me is Helga. She is in love with Arnold, but never lets him know. In
fact she treats him like dirt most of the time. She has an opportunity
to spend time with him on a science experiment and completely blows it.
In fact she did not even try. That made no sense.
I like Hey Arnold Season 2 Part 2. It is much cleaner than so many other
Nickelodeon cartoons out on the market. There are no bonus features to
speak of. There are ten episodes. Each episode is broken out into two
animated shorts. Fans of the series will be pleased with Shout Factory
for releasing it. If your not familiar maybe you should check it out. I
am glad I did.
