Company names that look like a persons
name generally do not make good apps. In fact the stats are scary when
we look at the history. Thankfully Irina Raileanu is an exception to
that rule. Hazard Balloon is a cute little game that is much better than
I expected it to be. We have a cute air balloon character who gets blown
around by the clouds.
Sounds like Hazard Balloon will be a breeze right? Well there are
hazards to avoid. Should have seen that one coming. :) We have to avoid
airships, lightning and tornadoes in Hazard Balloon. What are we doing
while avoiding the hazards? We are collecting sand bags. Once we collect
all of them then it is level over, and we can move on to the next one.
I started playing Hazard Balloon and huffed and puffed my way through
the first twenty-five of thirty levels. I went back to the main menu,
and shut down the app. Later on I came back in it - only to find all of
my progress was gone. Hazard Balloon had not saved it. The first five
levels were available but my scoring was gone. I am not sure why that
glitch happened. I did beat a couple of levels after that and my
progress was saved the next time I came in.
The graphics in Hazard Balloon look very nice. I love the lightning
special effects in Hazard Balloon. They are truly impressive to see. The
music in Hazard Balloon is also wonderful. I am not a fan of the sand
bag collecting sound, but I eventually tuned it out. Hazard Balloon
turned out much better than I was expecting it to.
The drawback to Hazard Balloon is there are currently only thirty
levels. That is about one third of the size of other puzzle apps when
they come out. The puzzles can be challenging in Hazard Balloon.
Especially when there are multiple hazards. Hazard Balloon is a nice fun
little diversion for a few minutes. I applaud the developer for such an
interesting game play mechanic. Hazard Balloon shows promise. I am
curious to see what future games come from this developer.
