Hamster Doodle

There are a whole slew of doodle apps on the market. Few of them are worth our time. So when I was asked to review Hamster Doodle, my reactions were on the negative spectrum. But I know how to be a professional. I know we do not always get to review what we want to. I know all games need a fair shake. I looked at the pictures of Hamster Doodle on the app page, and was intrigued.

I think I know where Hamster Doodle gets its name from. The art work looks like doodling. I could tell what everything is in Hamster Doodle. It does lack a certain level of polish that so many other games currently have. The hamsters, their cage, the balloon, and more are all recognizable. If a hamster starts to fall too far a parachute comes out to save them from going splat. This is a nice touch.

The special effect sounds in Hamster Doodle are so much fun. They are like collecting coins in Super Mario Bros games, or rings in Sonic the Hedgehog games. They have that same kind of distinctive sound. Hamster Doodle is clear what needs to be done. Collect all the golden sunflower seeds to make it to the goal.

There are forty-eight levels in Hamster Doodle. There is a light version so families can try it before they spend the ninety-nine cents. Family Friendly Gaming was provided a download code so we could play it. There are apps out there that contain a hundred or more levels for the same price. I do not know if the publisher plans on releasing updates with additional levels or not.

The controls in Hamster Doodle are pretty simple. But they may take a few seconds to get used to. Touch the balloon to blow it up. Then press near the balloon to send a gust of wind. The closer you are to the balloon the bigger the impact. I found that at times I could get some speed going, which was usually a bad thing for one of the four hamsters. The one on the balloon.

Hamster Doodle is a fun little game that families can enjoy. I learned to avoid sharp things that could pop the balloon. As long as I got one of the four hamsters through I could continue to the next level. I like the concept of Hamster Doodle, although I know from real world experience that it is better to keep a hamster contained.
