Geek Charming

Disney continues to have a family friendly
focus with many of their products. Geek Charming is the latest movie
that tells a heart warming story. The package Family Friendly Gaming was
provided also contains ten episodes of Shake It Up. The show does not
relate to the movie, but it is a wonderful extra, and fantastic addition
to the package.
Geek Charming revolves mainly around two characters. A diva at a school
who wants to be blossom queen, and a film geek who documents her life.
The two are from different worlds, so I immediately thought of Romeo and
Juliet. The twist in Geek Charming is they do not like one another. They
are from different worlds, and have preconceived notions about the
other.
As time progresses both Dylan and Josh let their guards down. They let
one another in, and find out that there is more to the other person than
they originally thought. They also examine their own lives and images.
Both realize they are willing to change. They are willing to improve.
That is when Geek Charming gets really interesting.
Dylan is using Josh to become blossom queen. She originally thinks it
can propel her into that honor. What other girl has a movie based on
her? Josh is trying to challenge himself, and find the truth. Does he
have to have that attitude and present himself in that manner? The best
part about Geek Charming is realizing they have influenced the other
person.
Shake it Up is a television show based on a television show in Chicago.
Yeah I know that sounds pretty strange. A television show based on a
television show. The fictional TV show is filled with dancing. Which
means the five hours of Shake it Up included in this package includes a
lot of dancing.
I spent more time watching Shake it Up than I did Geek Charming. That is
probably because Shake it Up is five hours, whereas Geek Charming is one
hour and thirty-eight minutes. Shake it Up actually grew on me over the
episodes. At the beginning we find these young teenagers to be
rebellious, devious, and very self absorbed. Their friends working at
the pizza parlor are marginally better. The little boys are smothered
with attitudes.
The first episode of Shake it Up includes one of the best dance
sequences I have ever seen. The neon costumes and face paint mixed with
the darkness, and fire is awesome. That is one scene we have watched
multiple times here at Family Friendly Gaming. An interesting side note
is every single episode of Shake it Up includes Up somewhere in the
name.
Geek Charming has a wonderful lesson in it about what true friends are.
The characters in Geek Charming learn what is important, and what it
means to be a friend. The ending of the movie is a nice heart warming
moment that will touch the hearts of millions. I am very thankful I was
able to watch and review Geek Charming.
