Forza Horizon
SCORE: 65
Forza Horizon is a mixture of a music festival,
and a racing event. All of this gets rolled right into one. We get up
into Colorado, listen to the radio and find out there are ten slots
left. So it is drive like crazy to get one of them. From there we start
to compete in events. The better we do, the more we unlock.
Forza Horizon has multiple difficulty settings. So if you are new to
street racing you may want to start at a lower setting. There is a
risk/reward system in Forza Horizon. If you go for a harder difficulty
and win, you earn more money. So there are advantages to racing harder
difficulties. I just recommend you only do that when you are ready.
Forza Horizon is absolutely gorgeous. The vehicles, roads, backgrounds,
street signs, and more. Forza Horizon looks very realistic. I must say
that Forza Horizon must be happening in the middle of the hottest summer
Colorado has ever seen. Why do I say that? The women are scantily
dressed. I understand attractive women, and fast cars are something
society likes to promote. I did not find it realistic in this setting.
Players have three different radio stations they can listen to in Forza
Horizon (Horizon Bass Arena, Horizon Pulse, and Horizon Rocks). The
songs are upbeat, and some of them are in your face. The music volume
can be turned completely off. There is not a selection I found that lets
us remove just certain songs. Language can be an issue in Forza Horizon.
Certain characters like to exhibit their enslavement to profanity.
This Xbox 360 home console game is something no one should try in the
real world. The speeds I was going in Forza Horizon were insane.
Especially for some of those narrow, windy roads with on coming traffic.
I crash more than one innocent bystander in Forza Horizon. Some races
come with normal cars on the road, and some are without. I preferred the
events that were just the racing vehicles.
The controls in Forza Horizon are marvelous. This game gives that
feeling of speed. The roads look different at night. The free roaming
concept in Forza Horizon reminded me of the old THQ Disney Pixar Cars
games. We drive around to the locations to where the events are.
Outposts are there as a shortcut for those racers that get tired of
running all around the map. I actually enjoyed going to the events more
than actually racing them.
The story is told at key times and locations. We earn points to get
better wrist bands. Going back to Race Central shows us more of the
story. Forza Horizon offers a variety of assistance in telling us where
to go, and where to turn. It also talks about us on the radio. We can
race rivals, and stars in Forza Horizon. Racing a star (a top racer)
will earn you their car if you beat them. Racing for pink slips baby.
There are a massive amount of cars in Forza Horizon. The Autoshow allows
us to buy and sell a variety of real world vehicles. Money can also be
spent on upgrading the vehicles you do own. They can be painted
different colors, have decals added and more. The amount of content in
Forza Horizon is insane. A racer could spend months enjoying all of the
offline and online content in Forza Horizon. The Kinect sensor has also
been added into the mix to improve the game play.
Forza Horizon is impressive in so many areas. I really wish this game
would have included a family mode (or a safe mode). Something that would
make this Xbox 360 home console game approachable by the younger members
of the family. Maybe the next game in the franchise will be more
inclusive. Forza Horizon is definitely for the older members of the
family, and ones that understand the rules of the road - plus that can
discern between fantasy and reality.
