Dance Central 3
SCORE: 68
The dancing genre has been around since
Dance Dance Revolution. In recent years franchises like Just Dance have
come to dominate the entire market. If we look at just the Xbox 360
Kinect games then the best selling is the Dance Central. Or so the front
case of Dance Central 3 tells us. I verified it with a little research.
Just Dance dominates when we talk all systems, and Dance Central wins on
the Xbox 360 Kinect alone.
Dance Central 3 is a pure dancing game for the older members of the
family. Notice the 'T' for Teen ESRB rating. There are plenty of adult
concepts in this game. Certain gyrations most parents will not want
their kids to participate in. Keeping youth innocent until they have to
learn certain things is the sign of a responsible parent.
When it comes to presentation Dance Central 3 is top notch. The game
will have light lines that follow the players arms as they are matching
the on screen dancers. Keep it up, and there will be an on screen
highlight as if you were on stage or at a dance club. The more flawless
the player is the more visual special effects there are.
A fair share of the dancers in Dance Central 3 are dressing
provocatively. This is an area I hope the franchise improves in the
future. I understand certain dance moves are going to be sexual. Add
that with their attire and plenty of families will pass on this home
console game. One look at the front cover should alert parents to this
facet of Dance Central 3.
Dance Central 3 includes over forty different songs from a variety of
eras. Owners of Dance Central and Dance Central 2 can import their songs
into Dance Central 3. Additional songs can be purchased in the future.
With multiple difficulty settings, unlockable content, and profile
settings - expect to be playing for weeks.
One thing I found very interesting about Dance Central 3 is the story
mode. We can now time travel to save the dance floors. Yeah I know it
does sound a little corny. But it gives the player something to do
besides just dancing with your friend. It adds to the replay value of
this Kinect title.
I love how long Dance Central 3 keeps the moves going. I could not
always pick up the motions of the dancers. Dance Central 3 keeps them
going long enough for my brain to catch up. I have played other dance
games that shift this much faster. So by the time I figured something
out, it was changing. That is not the case with Dance Central 3.
Parents will want to take a close look at the lyrics in Dance Central 3.
There are song in here that I personally enjoy, and songs I can not
stand. Each song is relaying its own message and lesson. Being
aware of this is important in comprehending where some of our attitudes,
moods, and opinions come from.
Dance Central 3 is pure exercise. I found myself sweating profusely
after an hour of play. I was wreaking of something and it was not
awesomeness. When I started playing Dance Central 3 I would go crazy in
the open dance sections. Later on I used it as an opportunity to catch
my breath. And no I will not share any of that one Facebook.
