How does Chillingo do it? They
consistently publish hit after hit on the iPhone/iPod Touch, and iPad.
Blockolicious is another high quality hand held game that brings
something new to our eyes. This is a match three or more game with a
little twist. First off players can match four of the same in a square,
and 'L' shapes. If a side of one block touches the side of a block of
the same color it can be included in the three or more.
The twist in Blockolicious is once blocks are matched. They go into one
block, and then contain a liquid. The player must then match more of the
same color or the liquid will drain out. If that happens it disappears.
If however you can get three of the same color filled with liquid, then
you can tap them. They will turn into a bomb of that color. Once that is
tapped it will destroy all of the same color.
Blockolicious does not stop there though. There are also various animal
characters who build up gauges. Once that gauge is full then we can use
them to make numerous blocks vanish. Players earn coins while playing
Blockolicious. These can preload the various animal power ups, or earn
new animals.
Blockolicious is bright and colorful. I enjoy how fun and fresh the
graphics are in Blockolicious. The special effects in Blockolicious feel
like a shower. The music in Blockolicious enhances the happiness of the
graphics. The distinctive sound in this hand held game will stick with
me for months. I will also be playing this game for months so that may
be another reason.
Blockolicious may make me work twice as hard as other match three
franchises. But it makes up for it in terms of fun, entertainment, and
achievements. I was able to get to the bombs on multiple occasions. In
fact it was rarely a problem in a game play session. The only thing that
ended my fun was the timer. Yes we are only allowed to play for so many
minutes at a time.
The price of Blockolicious is decent in my opinion. The game also
mentions free updates coming in the future. I learned to quickly
identify and match blocks of the same color. I also enjoyed the various
animals that are a part of Blockolicious. I hope to see sequels to
Blockolicious in the future. I know Chillingo will keep producing hits.
