Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls

The grand daddy is back. He may have been resting peaceably for some time, but he has come back to tell the young whipper snappers that he is still breathing. What in the world is the RPG Master talking about? Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls. This Playstation 3 (PS3) video game brings back role playing game memories. Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls is not for the faint of heart though. This game is tough, even for hardened role playing game veterans. Is staying true to the roots of the franchise a good thing in this day and age?

Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls is played in a first person perspective. The player can build their party at a guild, and go questing deep in dungeons. Most of the dungeons are dark. Some areas of them are completely black and the player must press on through. There is also blood, violence, and nudity. Many of the female characters in Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls could use some more clothes. It would be nice if video game developers would offer a cleaner view for families. More people would take an interest if they had that choice.

The music in Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls is moody. It fits the theme of the dark and dank dungeons. A surprising aspect of Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls is the bad language. Alcohol is expected in role playing games, especially when a player chooses to align themselves with evil. Why anyone would want to align themselves with evil makes no sense to this reviewer. There is enough evil in the real world, and acting it out in a video game does not help the world become a better place.

If you can get into Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls and can handle how this game plays, then you will find a lot of replay value. This downloadable game is all about the stats. Level up, complete quests, and get the right team. There are numerous quests, and dungeons to go in. A plethora of monsters await the player at random intervals. The dungeons twist and turn in all kinds of directions. Getting lost can be easy, unless you have purchased a map.

There are a few points in Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls that players can get really stuck. One of them is having to purchase a map, and then use a button to check your progress. This PS3 game will map your progress on the blank piece of paper (which is essentially the map). Fighting monsters is random, and the dungeons are deep. Players can get in way over their heads pretty easy. Dying in Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls is an easy task. The core of Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls is exploration and figuring things out for yourself.

If you are a numbers person then you may enjoy Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls. There are all kinds of stats, and they offset one another in interesting and unique ways. Expect to spend hours figuring things out in this home console game. Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls is not one of those games that can be picked up, and played. It takes a certain experience level. In other words Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls is one tough cookie. There have been two reactions here at Family Friendly Gaming. Either enjoyment at doing a lot of things for oneself, or disgust at the age of many concepts in this game.

Families need to understand that Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls is the kind of game that ignores many of the changes to the genre in the last ten years. Those that miss the olden days of role playing games will flock to this PS3 game. Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls contains a spiritual nature as well. There are gods, and mystical beings. It does not fit the Judeo-Christian belief in most regards. There is a creator in Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls, but nothing like God we know and love.

Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls is a solid role playing game that fills a certain style in the way it always has. This is a two edged sword. It is neat that it stays faithful to the franchise. It is disappointing that it ignores so many advances in the genre. If you know the Wizardry franchise then you will enjoy Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls. If you have issues with experimentation, and a slower pace - then Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls is not for you. Families should pay close attention to the various moral, ethical, and spiritual issues in Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls.
