Virtual City

Virtual City is one of the most interesting apps I have ever gotten to review here at Family Friendly Gaming. Players have a town, factories, and trucks. So the goal as far as I could tell was to make lots and lots of money. Man if it was this easy in the real world if you know what I am saying. Factories produce at a fast rate, but need to be reminded to make more stuff. I have talked to others and found there are similar apps that actually have more to them. But that is okay because Virtual City has a Lite version which is free. I love it when games let you try before you buy.

The graphics in Virtual City are pretty small. Yes this is a hand held app, so we can expect small graphics on such a small screen. Which reminds me, who likes to watch movies on such a small screen? Sorry I had to rant for a second. The good news about Virtual City is I could easily tell what everything is. A house looks like a house, a truck looks like a truck, and a - well you get the idea. I did not find any offensive images while playing Virtual City. The main screen has a female character who is dressed in business attire - in other words appropriately.

I found a catchy little ditty while I played Virtual City. In fact this little music brought a smile to my face. The special effect sounds are okay. Virtual City does a fair job of teaching the player how to play this app. I must strongly encourage our readers to pay attention to the tutorial because if you miss something you may run into an issue with how to do some things. I did not hear any offensive sounds while playing Virtual City on the iPhone/iPod Touch.

If you get into the game play of Virtual City you can find quite a few fun hours of replay. There are various thing that can be done, and produced. Virtual City has a hall of fame, and tell a friend option. This is a way that community can be built into this hand held video game. Virtual City can be downloaded for free so it is worth the price. If you like it, then you can pay for more.

I will openly admit I am not that thrilled with the flow in the game play of Virtual City. Having to keep tapping on factories irritated me. I also had some problems with the trucks going on routes at first. Moving around the screen, and being able to tap on objects work great. When I read about Virtual City, I thought it would be a lot of fun. I have to admit it did not turn out to be much fun for me personally.

Virtual City can be used to learn how manufacturing works - at a low general level. The one lesson that some can come away with is greed. I am not big on that lesson personally. Parents can talk to parents about good money management, giving to charity, and proper ways to build wealth. With some changes I could see a sequel to Virtual City.
