Transformers Beast Wars Season 1

Transformers Beast Wars Season 1 is the first half of the Transformers Beast Wars saga. The Shout Factory is selling this season, and the entire series. Hopefully a Season 2 will be sold at some future date. I am really pleased to see this television who make it to DVD. Four DVDs to be specific. This was another one of the computer generated shows. The setting is far into the future after the Autobots and Decepticons. Their descendants are the Maximals and the Predacons. They transform from animal to robot.

The two parties wind up crash landing on an unknown planet after their space battle. Proto forms (robots who have not picked a side or animal are floating around the planet. This planet has so much unstable energon that the characters can only stay in robot mode for so long. This is an interesting plot point that is not always adhered to.

The CGI graphics look good in most instances. There are some effects here and there that did not look that great in my opinion. The beast modes of the creatures look fantastic. I was not as impressed with the robot modes. The robots have horrible aim when they are shooting at one another. I lost track of how many times they were standing there shooting at one another. Near the end of Transformers Beast Wars Season 1 this gets better. They hide behind cover which is much more realistic. Robots get blown to pieces and are put back together.

Transformers Beast Wars Season 1 includes some minor name calling, and words like scum, fool, and other insulting terms. There is also a lot of comical banter, and decent voice acting. Megatron is down right creepy. There is talk of honor, stopping evil, and exploration. I noticed every transformation needed a certain word to activate it. I got tired of hearing: "Maximize," and "Terrorize." You should be able to figure out which side says which. The music gets stuck in the cerebral cortex.

The price of Transformers Beast Wars Season 1 is good for the amount of episodes. There are twenty-six episodes on the four DVDs. Some of the bonus features are an Art Gallery, Original Character Models, and Maximize! A New Breed of Transformer. Fans of the franchise and CGI will be interested in all of those. Transformers Beast Wars Season 1 is a different kind of Transformer.

The characters in Transformers Beast Wars Season 1 have some nice depth to them. This is pretty cool for a kids cartoon show. Okay not technically a cartoon but you know what I mean. There are some interesting concepts dealt with in Transformers Beast Wars Season 1. One of them is war, the cost of war, and why we have to stand up against the aggressors. The alien race concept is interesting in this show, and adds some mystery to it. I enjoyed watching these episodes.

Transformers Beast Wars Season 1 includes some violence. Concepts like honor and self sacrifice are alive and well in this show. I would not have a problem with kids ages nine and older watching Transformers Beast Wars Season 1. Some may even have toys from this franchise. I really do hope to see Transformers Beast Wars Season 2 come out in the future. It was a pleasure for me to be able to review this DVD package.
