The Office Season One
SCORE: 59
The WMG listened to friends about checking out The Office. Might as well start the beginning, which is season one. This television show is a mockumentary. What that means is actors are pretending they are on a reality TV show. So everything is scripted, and they play to the camera. The interviews with the various characters does a fantastic job of telling the story. The boss Michael Scott is played by Steve Carrell. He does a really good job of disgusting the viewer and making himself be hated. He wants his workers to have fun, but he constantly crosses the line. The Office Season One does a decent job of introducing the main characters.
The majority of the images in The Office Season One are of characters and the office. There is an episode where female attire is questionable. The male characters are falling over themselves trying to impress her. One of them does wind up dating her, so the lesson is go for it, and obsess over outward beauty. There is some mild violence in the basketball episode, which is cooled off thankfully.
The audio section is where The Office Season One falls flat. This is a comedy, and there is a lot of humor in The Office Season One. Unfortunately there is also a lot of disgusting content. How anyone could keep their job and offend just about everyone makes no sense to this reviewer. Although one stand out part is the various diseases the staff reported to Dwight during the health care episode. The theme music of The Office Season One really sticks in the head.
The Office Season One contains six episodes. This is a major disappointment to the WMG. Six episodes is not even half of season of a cartoon show. There are deleted scenes, and commentary included on this one DVD disc. The Health Care episode is the only one the WMG had any interest of watching again.
The menu screens are pretty basic, so no issues there. The storylines in The Office Season One are not that great. This show seemed to be going for shock value at this particular point in history. The Office Season One is not for children. There are a wide array of issues discussed, but done the wrong way.
The boss is shown in the worst light possible in
The Office Season One. The WMG can not see how this season can ever
increase respect American workers have for their bosses. The Office
Season One contains numerous bad lessons. One on hand this show is
trying to teach political correctness, and on the other hand it is
trying to mock about everything. This show has a lot of twisted humor in
it.
