Supermarket Mania 2
SCORE: 81
I see Supermarket Mania 2 on the
iPhone/iPod Touch as a major improvement over Supermarket Mania. The
polish and shine have been improved, but that is not all. The game play
has also risen to a new level. This time management game fits under the
organized chaos genre. Players have to try and keep the customers happy
while keeping the store clean. Different kinds of shoppers present
unique challenges.
The shine in the graphics is immediately apparent. I am very impressed
with how Supermarket Mania 2 looks on the iPhone/iPod Touch. Nikki looks
more respectful in this version. The items for sale look like the items,
and this really helps in the game play department. Many of the same
customers will come through, but that is okay because there is enough
diversity in that department throughout the levels (editor: eleven to be
specific).
The music is odd in Supermarket Mania 2. I was not offended by it, it is
just strange. It is one of those things that is difficult to explain.
The sounds did nothing for me, and did not seem to fit the game in my
opinion. The comic books that tell the story are interesting, and kept
me engaged in this hand held app. I love Nikki's positive attitude
throughout Supermarket Mania 2.
Family Friendly Gaming was given a
download code before the game was actually released publicly. Apple does
not provide information like game price. So I am guessing as to what the
retail price may be. There are eighty levels , thirty-four products to
sale, and two hundred upgrades. Money earned in the game is used to
purchase upgrades. These make the game easier.
Supermarket Mania 2 kept me on my toes in terms of the game play. It
kept introducing new things that I was constantly learning how to play.
Speed really helps in this game, but also some memorization skills. I
found myself trapped a few times, and could not figure out why. The game
told me my hands were full, but going to the trash can, or canceling did
nothing to help me. Obviously I made a mistake, and the only remedy was
to restart the level. This is one minor frustration in a game that is
generally fun.
Supermarket Mania 2 teaches us to serve others. An empire is built based
on hard work. It would be great if that much money was earned from such
short work hours. But this is a game after all, and we live in the real
world. I am thankful that I was allowed to play and review Supermarket
Mania 2 on the iPhone/iPod Touch. I see this as a major step in the
right direction for this franchise.
