There are few characters who are more
recognizable than Superman. Good reason too. He mirrors Jesus Christ in
so many ways. He does the right thing, and stops the criminals. He is
the kind of guy we all want around. How many times have we asked: "where
are the police?" Especially when we see someone do something illegal.
Superman has made it to the iPhone/iPod Touch, and iPad. Chillingo is
the company to bring Superman to this hand held system. He flies, has
super powers, and there are comic book elements. The story line is told
in comic book like screens. The storyline revolves around Lex Luther.
Lex is trying to help Metropolis. His help is
mainly about getting rid of Superman.
Superman is known for iconic music. I did recognize the music in
Superman on the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad, and it is still good. I found
myself jamming to the music in this game while saving the city. There
are special effect sounds that fit the game really well. One thing of
note is the criminals and Luther's men look the same.
Players can fail the city (let it get destroyed)
and have to replay that level. There are only eighteen levels so
I expected the difficulty level to be up there. Players must learn the
controls of Superman quickly to succeed. The
ninety-nine cent price tag is good, but there are not many
levels. I do appreciate the comic book screens that help tell the story.
Fans of Superman will recognize the endless battle between Supes and
Lex. The different characters from the franchise are a nice touch, and I
am pleased that they took the time to add more than just Superman
fighting it out with robots, and criminals. I learned to use my powers
to stop the evil business men of the world thanks to Superman.
