Pinch

Pinch is one of those free apps that gives you a little taste of the game. Then when you know you like it, you can pay to get more levels. I go back and forth on this concept. It is neat that we get to try before we buy, but it is also a little lame that you have to keep paying to play additional levels. Pinch has orbs that the player can merge. This is important to be able to make it over certain holes. But then splitting them apart again is important to make it through certain gates. Other gates require a certain color which means merging certain colors. White can make it through and color gate. Remember that my friends.

There are a lot of fantastic colors in Pinch. I also noticed some of the little touches in the backgrounds of different levels. Merging colors together into different colors is a neat aspect that this app includes. I did not find any offensive images while playing Pinch.

The music in Pinch is okay. It has this techno mix with some elevator style music. I suppose you just have to hear the music in Pinch to understand what I am talking about. It is very unique. The special effect sounds fit the theme of this game, and are pleasant to hear.

The core of the levels in the free version of Pinch are tutorial. So replay hinges on paying money for additional levels. Another aspect of Pinch is the levels are generally pretty short. There is also generally only one way to complete each of the levels. I had no interest in replaying any of the levels. Once a level has been solved, the only reason to replay is to beat your previous time. You can take that online to see how you fare against everyone else around the world.

I was getting into Pinch and having a lot of fun playing it until I had to split buttons apart. This is the most frustrating, irritating, and annoying aspect of Pinch. I would put it into a corner, and keep trying until they finally split apart. This cost me time, and took away from the fun factor.

Pinch teaches some nice little lessons. First off there is color combinations and what mixing certain colors will bring. Then there is the puzzle element of how to get through gates, and how to get all of the orbs to the end. Some of the levels will require thought, and I appreciated that. I hope to see sequels to Pinch in the near future. The concept of this game is good. A few tweaks and it could be great.
