PBR Out of the Chute

I have played many, many sports games in my life. PBR Out of the Chute has got to be one of the worst sports games I have played in my life. In this Playstation 2 (PS2) and Wii game you get to take on the role of a professional bull rider. Or you can be the bull. That alone caught my eye. Plus Family Friendly Gaming has not exactly reviewed a lot of bull riding games in the over fifteen hundred reviews (editor as of August 2010). You know how some things on paper look really good, but when you actually play the concept you find out how bad it actually is? That accurately describes PBR Out of the Chute.

PBR Out of the Chute starts out with this fantastic video where professional bull riders really pump up the player. I was ready to get on a bull, and start respecting these athletes. Then I started actually playing the game, and could not believe how bad the graphics are. PBR Out of the Chute has okay looking stadiums with clear advertisements. The details on the riders and bulls is lacking. Then I found out how violent PBR Out of the Chute is. The bulls trample cowboys, and their life less bodies lay there. What makes this worse is you get to do this as the bull. Which is about fun for three whole seconds.

The announcers in PBR Out of the Chute are semi present. They have some commentary at some key points, other wise this game can get silent. Well expect for the eight seconds the player is riding the bull, or trying to buck the cowboy. Eight seconds of a song is barely enough time to wet ones appetite.

PBR Out of the Chute contains various modes. There are twelve bulls, and twelve bull riders. Two players can enjoy this game at the same time. I am being very generous with that statement. I spent my money on this game, and even though it was under five dollars, I felt like I wasted my money on PBR Out of the Chute.

PBR Out of the Chute is mind numbingly easy. I was a little surprised by this. If I was the bull I could buck the cowboy in a few seconds. If I was the cowboy I could stay on with no problems. I honestly expected professional bull riding to be a lot harder than this game depicts it to be. The concept of this game is a great one. The application is really lacking.
Most sports games are great for families because they are generally safe. PBR Out of the Chute does not fit into that category. Others watching were worried about cowboys being dead, or the treatment of the bulls. I would advise ya’ll to pass on PBR Out of the Chute.
