Old MacDonald Had A Farm

When I saw the pictures of Old MacDonald Had A Farm I was so hoping this would be a Harvest Moon killer. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the Harvest Moon series, I just wish it would drop the goddess and witch content. Old MacDonald Had A Farm has good clean content that the entire family can enjoy. But it is not really a Harvest Moon kind of game. There are some similarities, but not enough.

The graphics in Old MacDonald Had A Farm are crisp, clean, and clear. I enjoyed watching the different plants grow, and the special effects letting me know they are ready to be harvested. The music in Old MacDonald Had A Farm has a fun feel to it. The special effects in the audio department fit the content of the game. There are a few sounds that will wake you up if you are dozing.

Old MacDonald Had A Farm includes enough levels that it will not be beaten in one sitting. I enjoyed playing this game even though it was not what I was hoping it would be. In some ways Old MacDonald Had A Farm reminds me of some of the apps I have played on the iPod Touch.

Everything you do in Old MacDonald Had A Farm costs money. Till the land, plant the seeds, etc. Well technically harvesting does not cost money. Selling the produce brings money in. Which means more can be planted, tilled, etc. The plants grow quickly, and generally do not need to be watered. In essence Old MacDonald Had A Farm is a casual game where planting and harvesting is the main game play mechanic.

Families can learn that different seeds cost more money, and sell for a higher price. Old MacDonald Had A Farm also teaches that it takes hard work to make money. The grandfather is a wonderful adult figure in this game, and it is nice to see family being supported in a video game. I would like to see sequels to this game.
