Mower Ride

Mower Ride is an iPhone/iPod Touch game where you race your mower through as many yards as possible. Players have to be careful because there are others who will try and bash and crash your lawn mower. Items need to be collected to progress further in the game. The main objective is to get as far as possible. Which means it fits on this hand held perfectly.

The graphical view in Mower Ride is done from the air. Players see the top down view as they race through the various yards. Some of the graphics are on the small side. Lawn mowers bash into one another and eventually explode. They will fly up into the air, or closer to the view of the player. This effect reminds me of the old Smash TV video game. Smash TV was a lot more violent than Mower Ride though.

Mower Ride is the most difficult app I have ever played. This game is tough. If you can hit the power ups then you can progress. Family Friendly Gaming was provided a download code for Mower Ride. It is selling for ninety-nine cents on the app store. In my opinion that is a reasonable price for the game. As long as you understand what Mower Ride is all about and enjoy that kind of a game.

Mower Ride is controlled by rotating the iPhone/iPod Touch around. Leaning it towards you will slow the mower, but the gas bar seems to diminish at the same rate. Which means going as fast as possible is the order of the day. The scenery comes at a random pace but numerous items will get in the players way and slow them down. Fellow mowers are aggressive and keep coming. I did notice that some of the scenery is re-used which made Mower Ride feel smaller than it really is.

I learned to mow as fast as possible in a straight line in Mower Ride. Okay maybe not a straight line. I did weave all around. I never did completely mow any law though. I also learned to smash into fellow mowers. I can not see any real world applications of these lessons. Doing this in real life would not be a good thing. I am also not sure I could run over a fence with a riding lawn mower in the real world. Mower Ride is an interesting idea. I wish it were a little easier since levels can be over in ten seconds.
