Mercury Hg
SCORE: 91
Mercury Hg is a fantastic game on the
Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This downloadable game has the players move
around a blob of mercury. Paint it different colors, separate it out,
turn on switches, and other play mechanics are incorporated.
Leaderboards are immediately present when playing this home console
puzzle game. After completing a level the player can see where they rank
among all the other players. Hopefully you can do better than I did in
that regard.
Mercury Hg has a very fluid look to it. There is also a technology angle
to Mercury Hg. The menu screens and many of the levels have that
technical, almost clinical look. Certain levels will bounce to the beat
of the music. This is a really cool feature that has to be seen to be
fully understood. If all your mercury falls off the level then you are
given the choice to restart the level. There is no violence in Mercury
Hg.
The music in Mercury Hg is thumping. Generally the tracks have a techno
sound to them. There are also some rockish sounds. Play the tutorial
because it will teach some important tricks that will be needed in later
levels. It can be annoying to have it consistently stop you to explain
something. But once you are in the game you can get rolling along. Pun
intended.
The price of Mercury Hg is extremely reasonable. Family Friendly Gaming
was provided a download code for this game on the Playstation 3. The six
axis controller is wonderful for this game. The sixty levels in Mercury
Hg are true gems. There will be additional levels coming in the future
in the form of DLC's. It is my hearts belief that Mercury Hg is worth
the money.
The controls in Mercury Hg are fantastic. The more bonus atoms you
collect, and the more mercury you end with will increase your score.
Levels are rotated around in a way that is similar to Super Monkey Ball.
But Mercury Hg has its own separate feel to it. If you have played a
previous game in the franchise you know what to expect. The difficulty
curve in Mercury Hg is fantastic.
I had a blast playing Mercury Hg. Some levels are more difficult than
others. I hated having to split it into two and then move them different
directions to get multiple colors at once. Combining those colors and
finishing the level made it all worth it. Mercury Hg is one of those
games that has you activate your brain in complete problem solving mode.
I think it is wonderful that this franchise lives on. I am also pleased
to hear additional content is coming in the future. Mercury Hg is one of
the great puzzle franchises that engages gamers in a fun way. I tip my
hat to the creators of this franchise.
