Medieval Moves Deadmunds Quest
SCORE: 66
Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest comes to us from the same team that
brought us Sports Champions. This Playstation 3 (PS3) Move title has
sword fighting, archery, and throwing stars. The first two work better
than can be expected. The throwing stars take some practice to figure
out. Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest is on rails.
Don't know what it means for a game to be on rails? You do not move
around in Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest. The game runs you to one
point where you fight so many enemies or shoot things for loot. Once
that is complete the game moves you to the next destination. Rail games
are generally known for the rail shooters. While two of the weapons are
projectiles in Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest I would not call it a
shooter.
Edmund is being trained by a dead king. This dead king character is a
ghost. He is your guide in Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest. An evil
character comes and steals a powerful gem which contains mystical
powers. Edmund tries to stop him but he fails. He gets turned into a
skeleton. And all of the other skeletons know upon sight (somehow) that
you are not one of them. Since they say that in the game over and over
again.
The visuals in Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest are dark. Most of the
story elements are told in a book or scroll sort of format. The writings
are like nothing I have seen before. The in game graphics and animations
are really good in terms of the details. The violence is never bloody,
after all we are dealing with skeletons. Once they are destroyed they
vanish into a puff of blue smoke.
The voice acting and music in Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest is top
notch. The game tries to be humorous at various points but none of it
reached us, or it was not a flavor we appreciate. I noticed a few
language issues here and there where characters insult one another like
calling someone an idiot. These are pretty rare though.
Playing Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest can become a tiring experience.
Reaching back for an arrow, swinging the sword, using the grappling
hook, and throwing stars can make one want to sit down for a bit. I like
how Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest gives us exercise. I loved it when
Edmund would comment on how the bad guys kept coming. I had the same
thought. I wanted to know how many of these skeletons I had to hack and
slash my way through.
The violence in Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest gets old really fast.
The good news is Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest allows players to
decide which weapon to use. I used the bow and arrow most of the time. I
noticed that one arrow would destroy an enemy but it took two sword
slashes to destroy the same enemy type.
There is a spiritual world view expressed in Medieval Moves Deadmund's
Quest. That view is the dead can stay in the world as ghosts to advise
us. Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest also teaches a belief in magical
crystals that contain amazing powers. The final lesson I learned from
Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest is to fight as long as needed to set
things right, and stop the evil people.
