Kinect Disneyland Adventures

After playing Kinect Disneyland Adventures at E3 in the year of our Lord 2011 I was ready to declare this game - THE NEXT BIG THING! I expected this game to be top of the Christmas Buying Guide, and to be high in TOP TEN Listings. But like sports games, we actually have to play them. We have to go through the effort, and find things we were not expecting.

Part of the problem for Kinect Disneyland Adventures is all the hype surrounding it. This game was named the heir apparent. Those are some pretty big shoes to fill. There is one issue with Kinect Disneyland Adventures that holds it back. That is moving around the park. This can be an exhausting experience.

Graphically Kinect Disneyland Adventures looks very realistic. I had all kinds of memories flash back while playing this Xbox 360 Kinect title. The thirty-five Disney characters look fantastic in Kinect Disneyland Adventures. I loved seeing them, and getting to interact with them. There is something so wonderful about taking a picture with Mickey, or hugging Alice. This transcends all age demographics.

The voices in Kinect Disneyland Adventures are just as realistic. Each and every character sounds like they do from the various television shows, movies, and cartoons. This layer is extremely deep, and we appreciate it here at Family Friendly Gaming. The music in the various regions, and mini games bring something fresh to the table. All of us here really enjoy this area of Kinect Disneyland Adventures.

There are one hundred challenging quests in Kinect Disneyland Adventures. These help the player explore all of the functionality of Kinect Disneyland Adventures. There are eighteen iconic attractions, and multiple versions of mini games. Players can take pictures while they explore the huge park in Kinect Disneyland Adventures.

The mini games in Kinect Disneyland Adventures control perfectly. I love playing them. Now getting to them is another story. Each and every person that tried Kinect Disneyland Adventures had problems moving around the park. Some would sprint in place, others would try to walk slow. We got caught up on things and our character just stood there. Or we were exhausted by the time we made it to one location.

Kinect Disneyland Adventures is very playable, and with some experimentation we found the easier ways to move around the park. Unfortunately we can envision families running into the same problem. In fact the only complaint we heard is it is tiring to get to the attractions. I understand getting some exercise, but Kinect Disneyland Adventures goes a little too far. I was less tired after an entire day at the real Disneyland.

The main lesson in Kinect Disneyland Adventures is to help others. Different Disneyland characters need help with a variety of things. Then there is the fun of playing the games. Players do the best job they can to get all of the gold stars. Or try harder next time. Two family members can enjoy Kinect Disneyland Adventures together. This is one of the best aspects of this game.

What is the bottom line? Kinect Disneyland Adventures is a good game for families. We expected this Xbox 360 to be one of the best of all time. It came up a little short. But there is still fun to be found inside Kinect Disneyland Adventures. I would love to see a sequel especially if the park movement is tweaked.
